About Me

I grew up in the city of Newark California where I would make short films with my friends or redub movies until they were comedies filled with witty fart jokes and thought provoking reedited dance scenes. At the end of my high school years I earned the Eagle scout rank in boy scouts for a documentary film covering my hometown of Newark's history of the last fifty years. ("Newark of Yesteryear" is available in the Alameda County Library)

As you may have guessed I am a fan of science fiction. Growing up I was a fan of Star Wars and Star Trek, which anyone can guess if they've ever looked in my room. During my time at San Francisco State I took any opportunity I could get to work on a film. I began in the lighting department lighting any student film I could get on and eventually moving on to light the feature film Return to Nowhere. Since then I have lit several national commercials for Credit Karma (Free Samples, The Game of Dating, Parent Report Card, Advice) and assisted in the lighting department for 4 other features. Like every other film student my dream job is to direct and I plan to use Jalopy to prove I can do so well. Jalopy will be a new experience for me since I have never directed or shot a film as ambitious or complicated as Jalopy.

When it came time to make my thesis film at San Francisco state I knew what I wanted to do. It has always been my dream to create worlds and make them a reality. That is likely what drew me to film most. In addition I have always wanted to make a science fiction film but have never had the ability to do so on this scale. Lastly I wanted the experience of shooting on 35mm film especially now before it's too late. Jalopy encompasses all these things and making this film has been a dream come true.

Now it is only a matter of balancing funds and hard work to get the film out of post production and onto the big screen.
